My Favorite Ribs, YUM!

So I'm posting this recipe so I don't lose it for about the 15th time. Convenient, yes?
Until I make my next blog that is, I will have to carry it over. I save it to my computer, and still manage to lose it. Story of my life, I know.

These ribs have always been a huge hit whenever I make them. They are absolutely fantastic and there are never any leftovers!

Total Time: 3 hrs 15 minutes <-- it really doesn't take me that long
Prep Time: 15 mins <-- that's probably right
Cook Time: 3 hrs <--- um... I don't think so.
*Note: This recipe is for 4 lbs of ribs. Adjust accordingly for more ribs, but I always use the same amount for less than 4 lbs because no one wants to eat dry ribs!

Ingredients:
Servings: 6

4 lbs pork ribs
3/4 cup light brown sugar
1 teaspoon hickory smoke salt
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper (optional)
2 cups of your favorite barbecue sauce (mine is Sweet Baby Ray)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 300 degrees f.
Peel off tough membrane that covers the bony side of the ribs.
Mix together the sugar and spices to make the rub.
Apply rub to ribs on all sides.
Lay ribs on two layers of foil, shiny side out and meaty side down.
Lay two layers of foil on top of ribs and roll and crimp edges tightly, edges facing up to seal.
Place on baking sheet and bake for 2-2 1/2 hours or until meat is starting to shrink away from the ends of the bone.
Remove from oven.
Heat broiler.
10 Cut ribs into serving sized portions of 2 or 3 ribs.
11 Arrange on broiler pan, bony side up.
12 Brush on sauce.
13 Broil for 1 or 2 minutes until sauce is cooked on and bubbly.
14 Turn ribs over.
15 Repeat on other side.
16 Alternately, you can grill the ribs on your grill to cook on the sauce.

Makeup Madness

I decided to maintain one blog and hopefully have different sections of it. This was my first, and only entry, oops!, of my "Makeup Madness" blog. I will do my best to maintain and update posts and experiences so you guys can enjoy the ride with me!

My name is Christin, I am from Southern California and I love makeup! I believe my obsession sprung from my mother. My mom has always had to be prim and proper with fresh makeup and hair where ever she goes. With a mother like this, how could I not be a complete girlie girl? When I first discovered Sephora, it was truly heaven on earth. I could (and still can) spend hours galore (okay, maybe not hours, but 1 and 1/2 at tops--depending upon location) in Sephora, even if I come out empty handed, my brain comes out refreshed, replenished, with the accompany of dollar signs replacing my pupils, trying to figure out how I could manage to purchase every product in the store. I love makeup.

About a year and a half ago I started working in and around the makeup industry. As time passed, I learned more about the products and loved them more than ever before. My collection has grown to be larger than I could have ever imagined. One day I will take a picture of it, document everything I own, and let the list continue to grow. Though, with my love of makeup comes the love of doing makeup.

Working for a makeup artist has been a true blessing. I have been more exposed to makeup than I could ever dream of. I started learning new tips and tricks as to how to apply makeup and decided to start doing makeup for people. I have done high school reunions, girl's night outs', everyday application and revamping, and the most recent being a wedding reception, with jobs for formal dances, when prom season comes, and a wedding in late July!

Yesterday (2 days ago--depending on what day you consider to be today) I did my friend's make up for a wedding reception they were going to. We did a trial run the night before to try different looks. The photos are below:

All products used on the girls were different parts from the collection of Smashbox Cosmetics, by favorite cosmetics company/line.
Both girls turned out beautiful and I am glad we were able to document this session with photos.
I look forward to wherever this road takes me and I am very excited to see where that is. I truly enjoy doing makeup and want to document my every stop along this journey.

Something to be Proud Of: CLU Ranked #14 in the West

Last Wednesday, California Lutheran University was announced #14 on the list of top universities in 15 Western states. Located in Thousand Oaks, California, the private university, with a small enrollment of only 4,200 students in both undergraduate and graduate programs, jumped several spaces higher on the list as the student to teacher ratio lowered to 15:1. CLU's acceptance percentage rate dropped to a 44%, but has also been on a list of A-Plus Schools for B Students, allowing students to thrive at a prestigious university, that might otherwise be viewed as a number, elsewhere. This and other universities were posted at usnews.com.  "2013 Best Universities" was released on Tuesday and you can bet you will be seeing purple and yellow included in that book.

Something She Once Said..

I am completely revamping my blog, as the last time I edited it, really, was about two years ago when I started it. Granted I haven't been consistent in my writing on it, neither have I been consistent about keeping it fresh. As I am currently revamping it, my old roommate, Irene, once wrote this and it stayed as the description until this day. I didn't want to forget it, so cheers to the good run "Christin's Adventures in the Middle of Nowhere" and hello to a new, fresh start.

An Amazing Life Story of a girl named Christin Warrick. She is a funny, always nice, caring, and happy little lady! She is my roommate here at college and I enjoy having deep discussions with her. If you are not friends with Christin then something is wrong! Get in that boat and enjoy the ride! She is an inspiration of happiness to and I hope you enjoy this blog of her! Love, Her Roommate Irene
